U.S. Citizens Renouncing – Continues to Increase: 4,279 in 2015

The number of USCs who have renounced continues rising at a steep rate.  Approximately 25% more in the year 2015 than 2014.  USC Renunciations Graph Through 2015 Excel Created

The quarterly publication reflecting the names of 1,058 individuals can be reviewed here:  U.S. Treasury Department’s: Quarterly Publication of Individuals, Who Have Chosen To Expatriate, as Required by Section 6039G

I have prepared a graphical representation going back to the year 2000, when only 343 individuals annually renounced citizenship.  In 2008 there were only 227, according to the records published by the U.S. Treasury Department.

Will the current political climate in the U.S. contribute to more individuals renouncing U.S. citizenship in 2016 and beyond?
